August’s book is The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

This historical mystery follows a respected midwife whose quiet records, sharp observations, and stubborn sense of justice pull her into the center of a murder investigation in 1789 Maine. Expect frozen rivers, secrets, courtroom tension, complicated power dynamics, and plenty to talk about over a beer.

Books and Brews is casual, welcoming, and very low pressure.
You do not have to finish the book to come.
You can come solo.
You can bring a plus one.
You can mostly listen.

You can absolutely have strong opinions about fictional people making questionable choices.
